Duties and responsibilities

 

Serve as an Officer in the conduct of deck department activities, including loading/unloading of passengers
Navigation of the Vessel
Ensure passenger safety
Equipment Inspections
Responding to emergency situations
Supervising crew in the delegation of duties
Providing training in crew fire, safety, and boat drills
Current certification: Transport Canada certified Master 500GT, ROC (Radio Operator Competency), MAFA (marine advanced first aid), Marine Medical
Must get certification for 2023: None

Event Planner

Duties and responsibilities

 

Assist Captain during sail
Maintain communication with all crew
Ensure passenger/vehicle safety
Responding to emergency situations
Safe loading/unloading of vessel and passengers.
Current certification: Watchkeeping Mate near coastal, ROC – Not mandatory, STCWs, MAFA, Marine medical by transport canada
Must get certification for 2023: None

SVMO/Engineer

Duties and responsibilities

 

Maintain, monitor and repair machinery and equipment on the vessel
Carry our pre-sailing routines
Conduct watch keeping duties, if necessary
Observe and record information
Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance
Oversee and assist in the transfer of fuel, lube oil, and waste oil
Perform occasional tasks including servicing sewage systems and purifies
Test fuel injectors
Drain and clean injector cooling tanks.
Current certification: SVMO (Small vessel machinery operator) or Second class motor ship, Marine medical by Transport canada
Must get certification for 2023: None

Deck Hands

Duties and responsibilities

 

Primary point of contact to the public
Load/unload vehicle and passenger traffic
Provide general vessel maintenance duties
Patrol the vessel for unusual situations, such as potential safety hazards
Ensure passenger compliance with regulations
Perform docking procedures
Conduct vehicle counts and safety equipment checks
Current certification: STCW or DVS or MEDA1
Must get certification for 2023: None
